Accountants are hot

The economy sucks. The CEO's stole all our money. And no one knows what's coming next.

All of the sudden, those accounting nerds you always made fun of aren't looking so bad, eh?

I've been watching news shows & talk shows bring out financial person after financial person over the last few months to speak on what will happen next.

It's our time, baby! We're hot & we've got something you want - the ability to make educated guesses on what will happen next. Mmm-mmm!

Bring on the masses of people who shall now lust after my incredible brain!

Half Marathon Training: Week "I've lost track"

Turns out trying to fit workouts in 6 days a week while going to school and keeping up with an insane work load sucks. Or, I suck at it, rather. I've managed to work out approximately 3 times per week the last few weeks. Better than nothing, I suppose.

I'm off to the gym for a spinning class this morning. I had a long run of 7 miles yesterday. And since it was freezing outside, I ran inside. On a treadmill. For 7 miles. For 91 minutes. (Yeah, there was walking involved, for those of you doing the math.) It was horribly boring. Luckily, I had music. And I suppose it's less boring when you're breaking it up into a run/walk, because then you get to focus on reaching smaller time goals.

So I've officially run more than half of the distance of the race I'm training for. Phew! I guess I should get my ass signed up for it.

In other news, my car got broken into this week. That was a nice unexpected morning of vacation I had to take from work (to get the window they broke fixed). The thieves got my bowling bag & my CD's. I have most of my music on my computer, so it's more just a giant pain to re-burn it all. But I do not have a back-up bowling ball & shoes. I hope whoever stole them is enjoying the bright pink & green Coca-Cola bowling ball with "Fitz" engraved on it, as well as the white & baby pink bowling shoes with flames on them that glow in the dark. And the black & pink bag, of course. Grumble.

And I'm sure they are delighting in my music, ranging from Bellydance albums to the Dresden Dolls to the Annie soundtrack. Sure, my music collection is a bit embarrassing, but it gives me a chuckle to picture them trying to pawn it. Ha, ha, suckers!

Confessions

My Catholic guilt (the strongest kind) requires that I not just write about my run this morning, but confess to the reason there have been no half-marathon posts lately:

I fell off the wagon.

Oy, that's painful. And so public. But it's true - I took nearly two weeks off. No real valid excuses - you know how it goes. You skip a day, and then the next is busy, and then you stay up late and stop waking up early to work out, and then work is so busy that you just think it's more important to be there an extra hour. And so on until two weeks have gone by and you realize you're at risk for not meeting your goal, and that everyone will point and laugh.

So you wake up and get your ass to the trail with your friends, and ignore the fact that your knees, hips, thighs, calves, and aforementioned ass are killing you 2 miles in. At least, that's what I do.

My shoes have got to go. I think they are too wide. I tie them tighter and tighter, but they are still loose on the sides. The arch supports help, but they don't fix it. Unfortunately I spent my spare money on contacts this paycheck. Vision/shoes. Tough call. Soon though - I have got to get my feet to be comfortable (somewhat!) while running.

Overall, it wasn't terrible. I came close, but did not need my rescue inhaler. I've stopped using it before my runs, so for the last few I haven't needed it. Woohoo! Also, I was determined to keep my heart rate at long run status (lower) this run. I have too much of a tendency to push myself too hard every single time. It's important on a long run to be able to speak a sentence without losing it. So today I loaded up my ipod and listened to Spanish podcasts while running. Talk about double productivity! I was careful not to speak any Spanish when there were runners around me. That would've been embarrassing! But when I was alone, I repeated my Spanish lessons aloud to make sure I wasn't pushing too hard.

Hola, me llamo Meghan. Soy de Los Estados Unidos. Tengo una amiga. Se llaman Ananda Devika.

(I think.)

Buenas noches!

Is there a doctor in the house?

Jay posted this video awhile ago. I can't stop watching it - it cracks me up. But more importantly, Doogie Howser is in it. It's no secret that I have a mad crush on Doogie. So you can imagine my delight when I decided to start watching Heroes, and found out that Doogie is in that as well! Of course, he's maybe a bit of a bad guy in that. But it's okay - he's a bad guy in a cute, mischievous way!

Anyway, here's the video. Muy funny!
